As employees of Jewish communal agencies, many of us have felt personally affected by the horrific mass shooting last Saturday at the Pittsburgh Tree of Life synagogue. This includes both those of us who are Jewish, and those who are not but work alongside Jewish colleagues.Indeed, as Americans, we are all affected by attacks such as this, and by the killing last week of two African-Americans in Kentucky by a man who first tried to get into an African-American church, to shoot there as many people as he could. And yet: we continue on with our work, in our agencies serving the community in Los Angeles and beyond. May we find meaning in this work, and comfort with each other, and may we remember that together we are strong. The Local 800 Executive Board.
