Tentative Agreement reached for JVS GAIN
Your bargaining team reached a tentative agreement with JVS management on your collective bargaining agreement (CBA). It was long and challenging, but we were able to find a fair compromise that would benefit you. Now we will hold a vote to determine whether to ratify the tentative agreement. Your bargaining team recommends you vote YES in favor of ratifying this tentative agreement.
Below are the major issues won in the agreement:
Wage Increases
The bargaining team was able to secure wage increases for each of the job classifications with the new minimum wages and increases for current employees:
- Unit Assistant’s new minimum wage will be $18.49 (7.9% increase), then on July 1, 2023, it will be raised to $19.23 (4% increase), then on July 1, 2024, it will be raised to $20.00 (4% increase).

New Paid Holiday
- JVS GAIN bargaining unit will be given the day off with pay in recognition of Juneteenth
One-Time Longevity Bonus
- Those employed with JVS within the GAIN bargaining unit before 2022 and still employed after we finalize the ratification of this agreement will receive a one-time bonus. The bonus will be calculated based on 4% of your current wage times by 1,824.
Binding arbitration process for statutory claims that excludes discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims.
- When we first started negotiations, JVS Socal proposed binding arbitration that would have prevented you from being able to file a lawsuit if you were the victim of discrimination. The negotiations committee was able to get JVS Socal to agree to a compromise that protects your rights if you are the victim of discrimination but allows them to require binding arbitration on other matters.
